Quantity Surveyor – Structural Steelwork

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 + Package

My client is a specialist contractor based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, renowned for delivering top-quality structural steelwork across various sectors, including commercial, defence, education, healthcare, industrial, residential, leisure, infrastructure, data centres, energy, distribution, and retail. With a reputation for excellence and a commitment to innovation, they partner with some of the industry's leading clients on high-profile projects. We are looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join the team and manage the financial aspects of our structural steel projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the commercial management of structural steelwork projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts.
• Prepare, submit, and negotiate contracts, tenders, and cost plans.
• Monitor project budgets, forecast costs, and implement cost control measures.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Prepare financial reports and provide updates to senior management on project performance.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and industry regulations.

Requirements:

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in structural steelwork or construction is essential.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and budgeting.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (e.g., RICS, HNC).
• Full UK driving license.
