Senior Interior Designer
I am currently working with a well established multi-discipline business based in Manchester. They are looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join their concept to completion Design & Build development team.
Applicants should be creatively driven with 5+ years’ experience working in the hospitality design sector. Applicants must be able to work across and lead a multidisciplinary team to follow through projects from concept to completion. A strong team leader, confident and knowledgeable designer whom must be able to both deliver and check detailed commercial drawing packs, design within budget and have a sound understanding of D+B.
JOB ROLE & DUTIES
- On site detailed measured survey
- Feasibility studies tailored to client requirements
- Reviewing feasibility studies and actively managing and resolving issues that have been identified
- Client facing to establish the exact client brief and continuously develop the project as required
- Working closely with project stake holders to develop an approved layout
- Working closely with specialist third party consultants and suppliers (including but not limited to; structural engineers, manufacturers, fabricators, FFE suppliers, etc.)
- Analysing and adapting design (potentially from rough sketch plans, indicative design intents or detailed pre-defined brands) to produce a comprehensive tender package
- Creation of full construction package with suitable understanding of relevant construction detailing
- Working with external 3D visualisation team
- Working with space planners, landlords or clients to negotiate relevant approvals
- Working with landlords and statutory bodies to meet required approval requirements
- Working with the in-house delivery team to ensure project is delivered on budget and to programme
- Dependant on experience and (graduate – junior – mid-weight – senior) the job role will include a suitable level of ownership and responsibility for leading the project in terms of design and delivery
- Knowledge of building control and regulation implantation and compliance.
ON OCCASION
- Creation of initial conceptual design intent packages including plan development, 3D sketch, colour and material selection, mood board creation, a level of 3D CAD visualisations, creation of bespoke presentation boards to convey the overall conceptual vision of a space, creation of full design intent guidance packages with relevant annotation and specification notes in a suitable format
- Working with specialist external graphic design team to actively shape and develop the graphical branding implementation of a concept
- Creative adaptation to existing interior brands or environments as part of creative refurbishment projects
PERSON SPECIFICATION: KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Ability to create conceptual sketch ideas through suitable medium (hand drawn sketches or computer created designs).
- Ability to create conceptual construction detail to illustrate design principles.
- Ability to full resolve creative ideas into buildable tender / construction drawings using suitable medium (CAD / basic 3D visualisation / hand drawn sketches).
- Ability to create detailed construction drawings with specified reference to interior construction and fit out.
- Ability to take a design lead on a project and effectively manage project information (drawn and administration) in full.
- Understanding of CDM2015 and the roles and responsibilities of the Principle Designer during design and construction stages.
- Ability to complete a design risk assessment at critical points of project development and aware of the implication of CDM2015
- Good knowledge of building regulation structure and the implementation of relevant guidance.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Basic knowledge of statutory authority planning application processes and associated approval and condition attainment / implementation.
- Experience with catering design and associated equipment specification;
- Basic knowledge of all M&E considerations within a food service (front of house / back of house) environment.
- Understanding of the D&B business model and the associated importance of contractual commercial design / development.
- Understanding of minor works business model and the associated importance of contractual commercial design / development.
