Trainee Quantity Surveyor – Brickwork

A highly sought-after opportunity to work with a well-established brickwork company based out of Enfield who have been established for over 35 years. Due to the amount of work recently won and new projects being taken on, my client has never been busier, and they have identified the need for a new trainee Quantity Surveyor.

The successful candidate will in their 3rd or 4th year of their degree / HNC and ideally has some brickwork experience.

This is a full-time office-based role, and they will offer a day release for you to continue your studies.

The Duties

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Engage early with the supply chain on key packages, providing feedback to Planning Design.
  • Review alternative methods to understand design constraints, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate on early packages and maintain subcontractor relationships.
  • Attend Design Team Meetings, review RIBA Stage 1-3, and contribute to Value Engineering.
  • Meet with consultants to identify early design value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaise with commercial teams to capture scope gaps and lessons learned.
  • Conduct Project Benchmark comparisons and analysis.
  • Propose solutions to project obstacles.
  • Assist in creating consolidated Cost Plans/BOQs.
  • Support transition to 3D cost planning.
  • Analyse benchmark information and maintain the Benchmark Database.
  • Produce monthly commercial dashboards.
  • Develop a Benchmark Tool for pre-release scheme

 

The Requirements

  • Working towards your degree / HNC within Quantity Surveying
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costs.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
